A Diwali Message for My Sister

Today marks the celebration of Diwali, also known as Deepavali  or the "festival of lights". Diwali is one of the most awaited and celebrated festivals in India "where people from all age groups participate. They give expression to their happiness by lighting earthen 'diyas' (lamps), decorating the houses, bursting firecrackers and inviting near and dear ones to their households for partaking in a sumptuous feast.

Our Yearly Affair at the NC State Fair

Like many NC families, it has become a yearly tradition for us as well.  We usually go on a weekday, but due to conflicts in our schedules, we went last Saturday, which happens to be the first Saturday that the fair is open.

Today was one of those Saturdays when you just wanted to curl up on the couch, watch TV, order Chinese food and eat it from the box. So I shared these thoughts with my husband, hoping he would get Chinese food takeout. He didn't. He did even better.

What Happened In Vegas…

It breaks my heart to write this post especially because it is in such stark contrast to an article that I just posted about spending the weekend in the beach. I feel like I just came from a sunny, bright and cheerful place and was thrown into a dark, gloomy and desolate dungeon.
